Module 1 · Understanding neuromodulators
What is actually happening when a neuromodulator is used?
A neuromodulator is a purified protein that temporarily reduces the activity of the specific muscles it is placed near. When a targeted muscle relaxes, the skin above it creases less when you make that expression — which is how movement-related lines soften over the following days.
It is placed in small, measured units, into pre-mapped points, by a trained injector. The effect is gradual rather than instant, and it is not permanent — activity returns over time, which is why neuromodulator plans are reviewed and repeated rather than done once.
Crucially, none of this is decided in advance. Everything begins with an assessment: a consultation that reviews your goals, your health history and how your face actually moves. Suitability, approach and whether treatment is appropriate at all are determined there — not online.
